Apple Announce Upgraded iMacs

Apple have announced the most recent incantation of their very popular iMac range ending a month of rumours and speculation.  The new release uses the same body shell of the previous model; the super slim iMac.

The new iMacs feature a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor on the base 21.5″ model, and new Iris Pro graphics. Iris Pro is a new Intel GPU that’s popular on mid-range gaming PCs, and should improve the graphics of the previous model overall.

Wireless buffs will also like the inclusion of 802.11ac networking which means the new iMacs can work with the latest AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule routers.  and connect up to 1300 Mbps.

The 27″ model comes with a 3.2GHz Quad Core i5 as standard and NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 755M which comes with a whopping 1 GB memory.  Both the 21.5″ and 27″ models come with a 1TB hard drive and 8GB RAM as standard which is upgradable to 16GB on the 21.5″ models and 32GB on the 27″ models.

Buyers beware; with the speed bump comes a cost bump with the whole range going up by an average of £100.
